Poker DVDs Reviewed By Our Editorial
Team
Let's face it. Many of us learn to do things better when we can
actually see for ourselves. So rather than buying yet another
Poker book, watching and learning from real experts on your TV
or computer via a Poker DVD can provide a real advantage The
problem is that there are quite literally thousands of Poker
DVDs (and some CDs) out there and they all claim to be the bees
knees when it comes to teaching you how to play the game of
Poker. So we've put our How To Play Poker editorial team to
work -- yep, it's a tough life but someone's got to do it -- and
asked them to review thousands of hours of Poker DVDs in order
to find the very best DVDs available on the market today. So,
without further ado, here's our Poker DVD line up:
Final Table Poker DVD
Phil Gordon, poker champion, analyst and
teacher shows you how to make winning decisions in
No-Limit Texas Hold 'em.
What
our editorial team like about this DVD is that there's a
free clip that you can watch (and even an extended
length clip) right
here.
That makes deciding whether this Poker DVD is the right
one for you so much easier.
It's a well produced, easy to follow DVD which
focuses in on No-Limit Texas Hold'em, though we feel
that, for the most part, the techniques discussed could
be used with many different Poker rules.
Definitely well worth checking this one out, though
you'll probably feel as we did that the clip in the
video looks more than a little staged!

Expert Insight
We love Expert Insight, if only for this
promo video which is really great! It
happens to features a
blond, who presumably we're supposed to
assume
is therefore absolutely dumb (boy, if she can understand
and play poker then surely you -- the read--- can, is
the hidden message). But then, thanks to theories of 'optimal
betting', 'team play', 'counting cards' and the
'division of labor', you'll be treated to an expose of
how to beat the table!
The video even shows an at first suspicious looking
casino bouncer who is worried that the blond lady is
counting cards, but the video claims to even show you
how to disguise your counting. Now that's got to be
worth a look.
For all our sarcasm, the review team actually likes
this poker video a lot. It's surprisingly well produced
and genuinely reveals some of the poker secrets that
you're probably not even aware exist. Check out
the
video and buy the
DVD right here.
Season Two of the popular World Poker Tour
It's hard to leave this out of any favorite
collection of Poker DVDs, if only because it's
so "in yer face" and in some ways it's inspirational in terms of the presentation, but it's also the
series which helped to massively popularize
Poker in recent times. |
This
also happens to be good stuff and you'll find
that the DVD does cover most of the world's
famous poker players which means you'll get an
insiders view of how these great players play
their hands. We thought that the instructional
commentaries work really well and we were
certainly able to follow what was going on,
without needing to stop of think about it.
(The same can't be said for all Poker DVD's).
As you'd expect, this DVD also contains a
vast wealth of poker related information. If
you're into Poker (or perhaps you're just
getting into Poker) and you haven't had the
opportunity to watch this popular Season Two
World Poker Tour DVD then this is definitely
your next stop.
